Hazel J. McComb Fulgham

Hazel J. McComb Fulgham, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, July 1, 2020, one day after her 105th birthday.  Mrs. Fulgham was a native of Mathiston, Mississippi, a resident of Hamburg since 1971 and a former resident of Richmond, California.  She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Dermott and Brookside Hospital in California.  Mrs. Fulgham was a member of the Gardner Baptist Church, where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Union.   She loved to quilt and sew and was gifted to make beautiful things.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Fulgham in 1972; a daughter, Frances Lucille Fulgham Barrett; two sons, James Fulgham and Roger Fulgham; her parents, Roy and Ada Ellis McComb; a sister, Louise Fulgham and two brothers, William McComb and Richard Nelson.

She is survived by a daughter, Christine Wright; a son, Dewayne Fulgham both of Hamburg; a sister, Betty Owens of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Ed Nelson of Hemet, California and Earl Nelson of Greenbrier; 13 grandchildren, James Fulgham, Jr., Mike Fulgham, Terry Fulgham, Anthony Fulgham, Gary Fulgham, Jeffery Fulgham, James Barrett, Ronald Barrett, Shane Barrett, Adam Wright, Heather Reed, Rebecca Leonard and Nikki Davis; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

 Graveside services are 10 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2020, in the Hamburg Cemetery with Shane Barrett officiating.
