Harry Joe Tumlison, 89, of Crossett, died Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his residence. Harry Joe was born September 12, 1936 in Portland and made Crossett his home for the past 50 years. A 1955 graduate of Portland High School, he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy. For more than 40 years, Harry Joe worked at Georgia-Pacific, where he served as a Shift Supervisor until his retirement in 1998. He was a devoted member of the Pine Street Church of Christ in Crossett. Harry Joe found great joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting and especially cherished the trips he took with his brothers to Texas. Harry Joe also enjoyed time spent at the deer camp, cooking and sharing those moments with family and friends. One of his favorite traditions was gathering with loved ones each year at the Austin Family Reunion at Lake Chicot State Park in Lake Village, where he could often be found cooking fish for everyone to enjoy.
He is preceded in death by a step-son, Paul Ricks in 2008; his parents, Noel Harry and Mary Ann "Lou" Austin Tumlison and a sister, Mary Ann Gwin Mormon.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bonnie Eastwood Tumlison; three daughters, Stacey Breshears and her husband, Alan, Casey Land and her husband, Jamie, all of Crossett and Lauri Robertson and her husband, Todd, of Canyon Lake, Texas; three sisters, Linda Gilliam of Portland, Nancy Cowan and her husband, Lance, of Antioch, and Pam Roberson and her husband, Doyle, of Bastrop, Louisiana; three brothers, John William "Bill" Tumlison and his wife, Ressie, of Kingwood, Texas, Jerry Tumlison and his wife, Tammy of Van Buren and Noel "Buck" Tumlison and his wife, Kathy, of Flora, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Tabitha Freeman of Crossett, Tori Land of West Monroe, Louisiana, Britany Ricks of Charlestown, Indiana, Vance High and his wife, Abbie, and Zach Land and his wife, Katie, all of Crossett and Clay Martis and his wife, Diana, of San Antonio, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Lexie Ruth Freeman, Ada Jo High, Eastley High, Bear Land, Jade Mullins, Cameron Mullins, Ellarae Mullins and Rylen Martis and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 3 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Pine Street Church of Christ in Crossett with Bro. Jerry Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Joe Friend, Tommy Pahal, Jerry Hambrick, Tommy Pearson, Kevin Pearson and Matt Franklin. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Finney, Dakota Womack, Brent Stokes and Willie Willis. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
