Gary McDonald

Gary McDonald, 78, of Hamburg, died Monday, May 29, 2023, at the CHI St. Vincent’s Rehabilitation Hospital in Sherwood. Mr. McDonald was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg and a 1962 graduate of Hamburg High School. He retired in 1990 after working with his brother, Billy, at McDonald’s Citgo for over 20 years and with Gwin & Sons Logging for several years. He enjoyed hunting and loved catching up with friends and family on Facebook. He loved his family and always put everyone before himself.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Adrian C. and Virdell Rose Higginbotham McDonald, three brothers, Phillip McDonald, Jimmy McDonald, and Garvin McDonald and four sisters, Dorothy McDonald, Joyce McDonald, Ida Jean Carpenter, and Linda Barnett.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy McDonald of Hamburg; a brother, Billy McDonald and wife, Gursta, of Hamburg; a granddaughter, Jordyn McDonald and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Promise Land Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Robin Allen officiating.    Memorials may be made to the charity or organization of the donor’s choice. 

Visitation will be 1:30 – 2 p.m. Wednesday at the cemetery.
