Franklin Joseph Mixon, 57, of Montrose, died Monday, January 10, 2022, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. Mr. Mixon was a native of Fort Hood, Texas, a resident of Montrose for 11 years, and a former resident of Pontotoc, Mississippi for many years. He was an “over the road” truck driver for over 20 years, having retired from CRST Trucking Company. After retirement, he worked for Scott Tractor for several years. Mr. Mixon served as a volunteer firefighter for the Montrose Fire Department and also served as Fire Chief. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on everything from old cars to “honey-do’s” around the house and in his spare time, he would draw, do woodworking and have discussions about the Bible.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Earl “Bill” Mixon in 2020; his mother, Brenda Palmertree; a step-daughter, Jena Christine “Chrissy” Hester in 2017; a step-grandson, Aubyrn Thomas Hester in 2016 and two step-brothers, Andy Mixon and Butch Tims.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Vicki Burns Mixon of Montrose; a son, Joseph Wallis Mixon of Guntown, Mississippi; a step-son, Buster Eugene Craig and wife, Brooklyn, of Monroe, Louisiana; his step-mother, Sharlote McCabe Mixon of Montrose; three step-brothers, Brad Mixon of Walls, Mississippi, Chuck Mixon of Hernando, Mississippi and Dentye Tims of Byhalia, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Jonthan Matthew Wallis Mixon, Isabella Nicole Mixon, and Adin Wade Mixon.
A private graveside service will be held in the Montrose Cemetery.
