Frank A. Dye, Jr. Obituary

Frank A. Dye, Jr., 91, of Crossett, died Thursday, June 6, 2019.  Mr. Dye was a native of Los Angeles, California, a resident of Crossett for the past 15 years and a former resident of Clearlake, California.  He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II, where he worked on the atomic bomb, and also served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era.  Mr. Dye retired from GTE Phone Company after 20 years.  He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bastrop, Louisiana, a 32nd Degree Mason, having received his 50 year pin and was a member of the Clearlake Callayomi Masonic Lodge #183. He enjoyed traveling, surprising people, cross-stitching, and making stained glass.  Family was very important to him, and they came before everything else.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Anderson Dye in 2004; a daughter, Delina Schroff; two grandsons, Brian Proctor and Scott Schroff; a great-grandson, Brady Jaxon Dye; his parents, Frank & Virginia Humpherys Dye; three brothers, Jay, Richard and Earl Dye; an infant sister and three sons-in-law, Arthur George Williamson, John Schroff and Lawrence Caldwell.

He is survived by two sons, Randy Dye of San Diego, California and Frank A. Dye, III, of Pearblossom, California; four daughters, Mary Lane of Omaha, Nebraska, Carol Williamson of Crossett, Frances Caldwell of Clearlake, California and Nancy Ebarb and husband, Tom, of Crossett; a brother, Selby Drew of Fort Bragg, California; 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Arkansas funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2019, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with President Arlen Richards and B.J. Dye officiating.  Funeral services in California are 10 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Clearlake, California.  Burial will be with full Military honors in the Lower Lake Cemetery in Lower Lake, California.  Pallbearers are his grandchildren, Mark Hutchinson, B.J. Dye, Stephen Proctor, Ryan Dye, Shaun Proctor, Robert Dye, Tonjaih Thomas, and Trent Elliott.  Memorials may be made to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, Nebraska  68010.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
