Emma Lou Day Miller Reppond Obituary

Emma Lou Day Miller Reppond, 91, of Hamburg, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 22, 2020.  Mrs. Reppond was born in Marion, Louisiana, on August 3rd, 1929.  In June 1948, she married Clayton Miller and moved to Ashley County, Arkansas.  She worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and as a clerk for Sterling’s Stores.  After having kids, she became a full-time housewife and Mom. Upon the death of Clayton, she worked at Hamburg Shirt Company.  After she retired, she volunteered for the Foster Grandparents Program at Hamburg Elementary School. In December 1998, she married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Reppond, and moved to Bastrop, Louisiana. With some encouragement from her younger brother, Dave Lee, she began doing 5-K races in her early 60’s.  She completed over 100 races, with her last one being the 2014 Armadillo 5K Run at the age of 84. She loved to fish, research genealogy, quilting, and spending time with family and friends.  Every summer, there was always a house full of kids because Aunt Lou’s house was the place to escape to!!

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Clayton Miller in 1982 and Bobby Reppond in 2009; a daughter, Betty Ann Wooten in 1999; her parents, Robert and Ola Smith Day; her step-mother, Alline Day; a sister, Clara Taylor and two brothers, Dave Lee Day and Johnny Day.

She is survived by a son, Wade Miller and wife, Cynthia, of Sugarland, Texas; two daughters, Carrie Simmons and husband, Randy, of Gulfport, Mississippi and Beth Clemons and husband, Basil, of Monticello; three step-daughters, Judy Keys of Bastrop, Louisiana, Beth Holley and husband, Don, of Oak Grove, Louisiana and Sue Glass and husband, Dewayne, of Mer Rouge, Louisiana; a sister, Mary Ann Hammack of Bend, Oregon; 7 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson, 17 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
