Ella Marie Thornhill

Ella Marie Thornhill, 79, of Hamburg, died Monday, June 13, 2022, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Mrs. Thornhill was a native of Mangham, Louisiana, a former resident of Monroe, Louisiana, and a resident of Hamburg since 1967. A 1961 graduate of Mangham High School, she was a homemaker and had previously worked at One Hour Martinizing and Harrison’s Department Store. Her truly compassionate nature often brought much-needed peace when she worked as the Night Hostess at Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home. For over 20 years, “Mrs. Marie” was always there to open the door during a visitation and give many families a warm hug or an understanding smile. She was a humble servant of God and an active member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Thornhill enjoyed everything that revolved around spending time with her family and being involved with her grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family, especially her cherished grandchildren, her fellow and former co-workers, her community, and her church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Alton and Bessie Aline Graves Thames, a brother, Thomas Alton Thames, Jr., and her sister, Kathryn Thames Osborn, who died on June 9th of this year.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Lee Thornhill of Hamburg; her son, Brent Thornhill of Sydney, Montana; her daughter, Leia O’Fallon and husband, Marty, of Wilmar; her brother, George Thames and wife, Wanda, of Mangham, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Libby Thornhill, Addy Thornhill, Chloe Thornhill, Will O’Fallon and Jesse Lee Thornhill and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2022, at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Joel Meredith and Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ricky Hixon, Johnny Pierce, Hayden Harrod, Bubba Dobbins, Cody Brooks and Jimmy Griever. Honorary Pallbearers are Will O'Fallon, Jesse Lee Thornhill, Stephen Thames, George Thames, Bernard King and Tommy Osborn.  Memorials may be made to Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, Sterlington Mission, 420 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR  71646.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
