Doug Haney, 65, of Hamburg, died Friday, March 21, 2025, at his residence. Mr. Haney was born October 22, 1959 in Atlanta, Georgia, was a resident of Hamburg for the past 20 years and a member of the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed working and took great pride in being known as a hard worker. Mr. Haney was a log truck and cement truck driver. He liked to go fishing but he dearly loved spending time with his children and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed Haney and Peggy Bunch Russell; a brother, Roger Haney and three sisters, Jan Stanley, Carolyn Stanley and Linda Stanley.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Melissa Tharp Haney of Hamburg; a son, John McElreath and his wife, Amber, of Hamburg; two daughters, Stephanie McElreath and Montana McElreath, both of Monticello; two brothers, T. K. Stanley and Johnny Stanley; two sisters, Marilyn Stanley and Ann Stanley all of Monroe, Louisiana and one grandson, Drake. The family would like to say a special "Thank You' to the staff of Davita Dialysis, Hospice Home Care and Ashley County Medical Center Home Health for all of their love and care shown to Mr. Haney.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the funeral home.
