David W. Chance Obituary

David W. Chance, 69, of Sheridan, died Monday, June 8, 2020, in Pine Bluff.  Mr. Chance was a native of Memphis, Tennessee, a resident of Sheridan since 1982 and a former resident of Redfield and Hamburg. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked for Arkansas Power & Light and Entergy Corporation for 38 years.  Mr. Chance was a former Fire Chief of Clavert Township Fire Department in Sheridan, an Emergency Medical Technician and he helped to build the B-17 Memorial Park in Grant County. A member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan, Mr. Chance was also a Mason, a member of the Sheridan Masonic Lodge #260 and the Sheridan American Legion Post.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Lillian Norrell Chance, a sister, Violet Chance and three brothers, Donald F. Chance, Charles Leon Chance and Bobby H. Chance.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Ann Johnson Chance of Sheridan; a son, Wayne Chance of Benton; a daughter, Kimberly Chance of Hot Springs; five grandchildren, Dustin Hicks, Michael Chance, Jonathan Chance, Tyler Chance and Cameron Hicks; a great-grandchild, Kade Hicks and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 3 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2020, in the Carlock Cemetery with Bro. Joey Meredith officiating.

Visitation will be 2:45 – 3 p.m., Thursday at the Cemetery.
