Clair "Jody" Tanksley

Clair “Jody” Tanksley, 66, of Hamburg died Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.  Mrs. Tanksley was a native of Crossett and a resident of the Mist Community outside of Hamburg for most of her life.  She was a Housekeeper for The Pillars of the Community Assisted Living Center in Crossett, having retired in 2011 and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Snyder.  Mrs. Tanksley never met a stranger and truly enjoyed talking and visiting with everyone she met.  She loved spending time with her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis James Tanksley in 2011; her parents, Olin Ray and Peble Andrews Murphy; a brother, Buddy Ray Murphy and a sister, Vera Mae Murphy Adams.

She is survived by a son, Dennis “James” Tanksley, Jr. and wife, Jazmine, of Hamburg; a daughter, Jenny Tanksley Cendejas and husband, Ramón, of Lake Village; four sisters, Brenda Nelms and husband, Frankie, Marie Chandler, Helen Johnson and Faye Ritzell all of Crossett; two brothers, Willard Murphy and wife, Mary, of El Dorado and Rondle Murphy of Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Bliss, Jasmine, J.C., Kaven, Logan, Allen, Jessica, and Jymma Klair; four great-grandchildren, Brayden, Bryson, Bryer and Nevaeh and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Scott Ricks and Bro. Elvin McDill officiating.  Burial will be in the New Texas Cemetery. Pallbearers are J.J. Elmore, C.L. Guimbellot, Chris Tanksley, Dustin Tanksley, John Calvin Williams and Michael Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Hammons and Alan Tew.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
