Cheryl Darline Spurlock, 77, of Hamburg, died Friday, June 12, 2026 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Spurlock was born on May 19, 1949, in Hamburg and remained a lifelong resident of the community. She graduated from Hamburg High School in 1967. Throughout her working years, she was employed at the Hamburg Shirt Factory, Carpenter's Fine Furniture, and Harrison's Department Store before retiring as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. Mrs. Spurlock was a talented seamstress who took great pride in her craft. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Bonnie Barnett Elton; her father and mother-in-law, Oscar and Henrietta Spurlock, a sister-in-law and four brothers-in-law.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Spurlock; a son, Darrell Spurlock and Katy Griffin; two daughters, Karla Jeffers and her husband, Michael, all of Hamburg and Lena Spurlock and Jimmy McDonald of Bastrop, Louisiana; two brothers, Lewis Elton and his wife, Dianne, Ray Elton and his wife, Cheryl; two sisters, Arline White and her husband, Don, and Janice Jordan all of Hamburg; three sisters-in-law, Betty Horn, Martha McLeod and her husband, John and Margaret Stinson and her husband, Waylon; seven grandchildren, Tyler Stafford, Hayden Stafford, Josh Sivils, Emmitt Jeffers and his wife, Harlie, Sam Spurlock, Toby Spurlock and Beaux Johnston; a great-grandchild, Dallas Spurlock.
There will be a memorial visitation 2-4 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2026 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice Home Care of Monticello for all of the love, support and care shown.
