Charlotte Douglass Wigley

Charlotte Douglass Wigley, 84, of Hamburg, died Thursday, February 27, 2020, at her residence.  Mrs. Wigley was a native of the Mist Community outside of Hamburg and a resident of Hamburg for most of her life.  She was a homemaker.  Mrs. Wigley was a member and Song Director of the Southside Baptist Church and a former member and Song Director of Gardner Baptist Church.  In her spare time, she loved to play the piano, sing at the nursing home, and visit with the nursing home residents.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Lynette Nutter in 2015; a great-grandson, Dominick Monroe Savage; her parents, William Clifton & Virgie Mae Ferguson Douglass; two brothers, Thad Anderson Douglass and Waymond Douglass.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, W.M. Wigley of Hamburg; a daughter, Mary Ann Galvin of Johnson City, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Doug Nutter, Ashley Savage, Amanda Galvin and Melissa Galvin; five great-grandchildren, Dakota, Leland, William, Jeremiah and Jacob; three great-great-grandchildren, Aubree, Ensley and Jacoby and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2020, at the Southside Baptist Church with Rev. David Newberry officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Lamar Higginbotham, Douglas Crane, Stephen Dumas, Nathan Burchfield, Tommy Breedlove and John Dailey.  Honorary pallbearers are Royce Bowden and Freddie McNeil.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
