Charlie Mae Lair Grubb, 89, of Hamburg, died Friday, January 31, 2020, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Mrs. Grubb was a native and lifelong resident of Ashley County and Hamburg. She worked for Arkansas Power and Light for 30 years. Mrs. Grubb was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as church treasurer and taught Sunday school.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Grubb in 2001; her parents, Charles L. & Ellie Belle Brady Lair; a brother, Dan Lair and a sister, Marie Lair Winters.
She is survived by two sons, Ricky Grubb and wife, Melinda, of Glen Allan, Mississippi, Max Grubb and wife, Debbie, of Hamburg; three daughters, Pat Simpson and husband, Jerry, Kay Avery and husband, Bob, all of Jefferson, Texas and Glenda Jones and husband, Don, of Joaquin, Texas; a brother, John Lair and wife, Sandy, of Lakeview; 16 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Josh Luellen and Bro. Trey Emory officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Nicholas Simpson, Bill Avery, J.R. Grubb, Tony Grubb, Jonathan Grubb, Zach Grubb, Emory Grubb, Brandon Richter, Daniel Richter, Devin Richter, Tyler Richter, Spencer Richter and Jordan Richter. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandsons. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, Don Kelley’s Playground for Kids, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
