Charles T. "Tommy" Wells, 80, of Hamburg, died Saturday, August 2, 2025, at his residence. Mr. Wells was born March 8, 1945 in Little Rock. He was a resident of Hamburg for the past 59 years, a former resident of Little Rock and a 1963 graduate of Maplevale High School. Mr. Wells worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for over 20 years and then drove a truck for Matthews Butane until he retired in 2015. Mr. Wells was a faithful member of the Hollis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a Mason and a member of the Hamburg Prairie Lodge #465. Mr. Wells enjoyed fishing and tinkering.
He is preceded in death by a son, Charles T. "Pete" Wells, a grandson, Kye Wells, a daughter-in-law, Heather Taylor Wells all in 2001; a son-in-law, Paul Berryman in 2010; a step-grandson, Dustin Edwards; his parents, Louie and Ellen Davis Wells and a brother, Bobby Wells.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Wooten Wells of Hamburg; three daughters, Laura Berryman of Fountain Hill, Paulette Mitchell and her husband, Randy, of Hamburg and Mendy Berryman and her husband, Mike, of Monticello; a brother, Melvin Wells of Lacey; a sister, Estelle Wells of Little Rock; nine grandchildren, Jim Mitchell (Stephanie) Dotti Berryman (Terry Holland), Susan Carver (Josh), Jordan Berryman, Clif Wells (Mandy), Kate Weaver (Torry), Cody Berryman (Kayla), Lane Berryman and Heather Brock (John); 16 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Hollis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Josh Carver officiating. Burial will be in Hollis Chapel Memory Garden. Pallbearers are Cody Berryman, Lane Berryman, Jordan Berryman, Greg Berryman, Clif Wells, and Jim Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Holland and Eli Carver.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
