Charles Lee Thomas, 79, of Parkdale, died Thursday, July 15, 2021, in Crossett. Mr. Thomas was a native of Parkdale, a former resident of Portland and McGehee, having moved back to Parkdale over 20 years ago. He was known to be a very hard worker and operated heavy equipment for several farms and gins in the Delta area. Mr. Thomas enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking at the Austin-Coker Deer Camp in Snyder. He never missed an opportunity to “bag a doe,” and his daughters say that “The doe’s are finally safe on overflow!” His family was important to him and he loved his daughters very much.
He is preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Allen Guyton in 1993; a nephew, Robbie Benson in 2017; his parents, Robert Lee and Eva Myrtis Davis Thomas; two sisters and a brother.
He is survived by two daughters, Jessica Perritt of West Monroe, Louisiana and Nicole Guyton of Monroe, Louisiana; a sister, Debbie Thomas Benson of Florence, South Carolina; a granddaughter, Brittney Ann Thomas, a grandson, Jessie Lee Guyton; a nephew, Richard Allen Benson; his special friends, Gary Matthews, Hal and Brenda Sedberry and numerous other friends.
Memorial services are 10 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Emory Austin officiating. A private burial will be in the Parkdale Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be 9:30 - 10 a.m., Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
