Charles E. Farmer, 83, of Hamburg, died Thursday, April 30, 2020. Mr. Farmer was a native of the Extra Community, south of Hamburg and a resident of Hamburg since 1974. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1955. After his high school graduation, he went to work for the Crossett Company, which later became the Georgia-Pacific Corporation and he retired from Plum Creek after 41 years as a Forestry Technician. Mr. Farmer was a member of the Hamburg First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Louisiana National Guard. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, journaling, and genealogy. Mr. Farmer was a hard-working man who loved his family and always made sure they were taken care of.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. & Jessie Jewel Riels Farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie Bridges Farmer; a son, David Farmer and wife, Betty of Hamburg; three daughters, Sandra Owens and husband, William, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Angela Rosen and husband, Donald, of Hamburg and Amy Courson and husband, Richard of Southaven, Mississippi; a brother, Allen Farmer and wife, Dorothy, of Hamburg; five grandchildren, Joseph Farmer, Daniel Farmer, Nicholas Rosen, Maddie Owens and Nash Rosen and a niece, Rita Barnett.
Graveside services are 2 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2020, in the Extra Cemetery with Stanton Veazey and Rev. Toby Austin officiating. Honorary pallbearers are John Ricks, Steve McDonald, Jerry Watkins, Dewayne Bridges, Dudley Allen, John Harrison, Bennie Williams, and Dale Riels. Memorials may be made to the Extra Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. Dorothy Farmer, 1303 N. Cherry Street, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 1:45 – 2 p.m., Sunday at the cemetery.
