Charles Ivey, 82, of Hamburg, died Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. Mr. Ivey was born June 7, 1943 in Covington County, Alabama and a resident of Hamburg for most of his life. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a Medic. Mr. Ivey worked as a Millwright Supervisor for over 50 years at various mills all over the United States. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren that he loved more than anything.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Dubose in 2011; his parents, Jessie C. and Anna Jones Ivey; a sister, Marjorie Carnley; three brothers, Jessie Ivey, Jr., Bobby Ivey and Billy Ivey; his mother-in-law, Bonita Jeffers and a sister-in-law, Sharlene Ivey.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary H. Jeffers Ivey of Hamburg; two sons, Philip Ivey and his wife, Tasha, of Hamburg and Douglas Bussell and his wife, Tiffany, of Georgia; a daughter, Jeannie Wood and her husband, Jason, of Hamburg; a sister, Sarah Grice; two brothers, Buck Ivey and Farrell Ivey and his wife, Linda, all of Alabama; a special sister-in-law, Virginia Fry Bowman of Hamburg; six grandchildren, Ethan, Dylan, Joel, Jaisley, Lace and Kord; a host of great-grandchildren; a special great-grandson, Dutton Thurman and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in the Flat Creek Cemetery with Bro. Carlton White officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Ethan Thurman, Dylan Ivey, Joel Wood, Jaisley Wood, Ray Carpenter, Jason Wood and Mark Kelley.
