Carolyn Sedberry Kelley, 79, of Hamburg, died Thursday, May 7, 2020. Mrs. Kelley was a native of Ashley County and a resident of the Promise Land Community, outside of Hamburg, since 1971. She graduated from Portland High School in 1959 and she worked at the Ashley County Health Unit for 30 years, having retired in 2005. Mrs. Kelley had a love for children and taught Sunday school for many years at Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an active member and was also a member of the Lois Circle. Mrs. Kelley was an extraordinary cook and had a passion for playing the piano.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Don R. Kelley in 2014; her parents, Woodrow and Jimmie Rowe Sedberry, a brother, Buford Sedberry, a sister-in-law, Becky Sedberry and a nephew, Davy Sedberry.
She is survived by a son, Steven Kelley of Hamburg; a special “adopted” granddaughter, Kylie Carpenter of Greenbrier; two sisters, Linda Stell of Monticello and Joanne Stone and husband, Stan, of Hamburg; two brothers, David Sedberry and wife, Cledia, of North Little Rock and Howell Sedberry and wife, Brenda, of Hamburg, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services are 2 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2020, in the Promise Land Cemetery with Bro. Josh Luellen and Bro. Trey Emory officiating. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 1:45 – 2 p.m., Monday at the cemetery.
