Buford “Buzz” Edwards, 71, of Hamburg, died Friday, May 17, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Edwards was a native of Casa Grande, Arizona; a resident of the Shiloh Community, north of Hamburg, for over 35 years, and a lifelong resident of Ashley County. He began his 46 year career as an over-the-road truck driver at the age of 19, and for the last 20 years he drove a truck with the pipeline, having retired in 2018. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding horses, hunting, riding motorcycles, sitting out at his pond, and watching the deer from his back porch. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Lee Brown Edwards in 2016; a son, Shannon Montgomery; his parents, William P. and Nina Lou Olbrieht Edwards and two sisters, Deborah Edwards and Joyce Edwards.
He is survived by his fiancé, Gina Sowyers of Hamburg; two sons, Ronnie Joe Edwards of McGehee and Eric Montgomery and wife, Jennifer, of Hamburg; a daughter, Regina Bullock and husband, Charles, of Lake Village; two brothers, Payton Ray Edwards and wife, Linda, of Elkins, and Ronald Edwards of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Donna West of Wilmar, Christine Edwards of Kirksville, Missouri and Lois Carter of Shreveport, Louisiana; 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
