Brylei Jade Griffith, 14, of Hamburg, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, surrounded by her family. Brylei was affectionately known as “Sissy, Sissy Bear, and Jonathan” by her family. She was born September 6, 2010 in Monticello and was an 8th grade student at the Hamburg Middle School. Brylei loved the Lord and loved spreading the word of God. Whenever the opportunity presented, she made sure to tell people about the Lord and about her preacher at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church. She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and friend who enjoyed walking at the park, thrifting, shopping, having her nails done, going to eat crawfish with her Daddy and going to church every Sunday with her Mother. Brylei will be forever missed and the family would like to thank our community for the outpour of prayers and kind thoughts during this tragic time.
She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Glenn "Sudsy" and Mitzi Carpenter, Calvin and Nadine Purvis, Patricia and Leroy Cox and Thomas Griffith, Jr..
Brylei is survived by her parents, Jerry Wayne "Jay" Griffith, II and Kristyn Purvis Griffith; two brothers, Jase Griffith and Ollie Burnside; a sister; Alayna Jo Price; her paternal grandparents, Candie Stafford and her husband, Bubba and Jerry Griffith (Sonya Cates); her maternal grandmother, Beverly Laing; her maternal grandfather, Glenn Purvis and his wife, Vannessa; her great-grandmother, Winona Griffith; three aunts, Brittney Sullivent and her husband, Jeromy, Chelsea Moffatt and her husband,Trace, and Raven King; four uncles, Zachery Griffith, Tyler Stafford, Hayden Stafford and Drew Laing; many cousins, and her fur babies, Dottie Marie and Oden Prince.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Trinity Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Clayton Nichols officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Joe Williams, David Tumey, Tim Outlaw, Jesse Smith, B.J. Dye and Clayton Price. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local fundraisers set up for Brylei's family or memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202, in memory of Brylei.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
