Bro. Farrell Breshears, 80, of Monticello, died Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Baptist Health Medical Center Drew County Hospital in Monticello. Bro. Breshears was a native of Fort Worth, Texas; a resident of Monticello for the past five years and a former resident of Hamburg and Ashley County for many years. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a Bachelor's Degree in Math Education. He was a Missionary Baptist Minister and Pastored at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church for five years, Egypt Missionary Baptist Church for eight years and the Cross Road Missionary Baptist Church for 32 years. Bro. Breshears was currently a member and Deacon at the Old Union Baptist Church. He taught school at the Fountain Hill High School for 13 years and served as the Ashley County Environmental Health Specialist for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pauline Grisham Breshears; a sister, Paula Kay Pihlak and a brother, Bro. Donald Paul Breshears.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glenda Nixon Breshears of Monticello; a daughter, Sara Cater and her husband, Jason of Monticello; three sons, Alan Breshears and his wife, Stacey, of Crossett, Keith Breshears and his wife, Sherri, of Crossett and Paul Breshears and his wife, Kathi, of Aubrey, Texas; a brother, Jerry Steven Breshears of Mulberry; three sisters, Elaina Evans and her husband, Ides, of Alma, Sharon Nixon and her husband, Jerry, of Mountainburg and Martha Walker and her husband, Larry, of Alma; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2025, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Alan Breshears and Keith Breshears officiating. A private family burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Visitation will be at the Cross Road Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at noon Saturday.
