Bobby Wayne Gulledge, 64, of Johnsville, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Gulledge was a native of Portland, the youngest of five children. Even though his older siblings spoiled him rotten, he would always be his “Mama’s Boy, her baby boy.” Mr. Gulledge was a resident of Johnsville for the past year and a former resident of Hamburg for most of his life. He was the owner of Diamond Tree Service for many years. He loved climbing the tallest trees and was like a “monkey with two lives.” Mr. Gulledge was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Snyder. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back and was always able to find the humor in most everything. He fought a hard battle, but God was the Victor! Mr. Gulledge was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his family, especially his grandkids and his dog, Blue.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy & Eliece Prescott Gulledge, and a nephew, Michael Collins.
He is survived by his dearly loved daughter, Amber McCartney and husband, Michael, of Denison, Texas; his brother, Bro. Edward Gulledge and wife, Gladys, of Hamburg; three sisters, Clara Wood of Crossett, Claudia Kinnaird and Terry Williams of Johnsville and Mary Norrell and husband, Jimmy, of Hamburg; three grandchildren who were the light of his life, Lakota, Kyleigh and Summer; a very special friend and brother from a different mother, John ‘Fat Boy” Shaffer and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Simon, Dr. Trace Garner, and all of the other doctors, nurses, and staff at Drew Memorial, Jefferson Regional, and St. Vincent Hospital. A most precious thank you to his aids, Victoria Lincoln and Emilee Phillips, who took such good care of him.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2024, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Elton and Bro. J.W. Dobbins officiating. Burial will be in the Snyder Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jeff Norrell, John Allen Freeland, Dakota Savage, Larry Roberts, John Shaffer and Michael Buchler. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Ray, Terry Stevens, Terry Williams, Jimmy Norrell, and Joseph Savage. Memorials may be made to the Snyder Cemetery Association, c/o Sue Bailey, 126 Honey Hill Loop, Searcy, AR 72143.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
