Billy Clyde Tanksley, 66, of Hamburg, died Friday, June 9, 2023, at his sister’s residence in Crossett. Mr. Tanksley was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg and proudly served in the Arkansas National Guard. He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Plywood Mill for many years before working at Maxwell Flooring in Monticello. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing but loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Evelyn Jones Tanksley; his father-in-law, George Collier and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Wesson.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Collier Tanksley; a son, Andy Tanksley and wife, Lisa, all of Hamburg; three daughters, Lisa Benton and husband, James, of Marshall, Texas, Heather Tanksley-Carter and wife, Allie, of Eureka, Nevada, and Renae Murphy and husband, Cliff, of Hamburg; two brothers, Johnny Tanksley and wife, Pam, of Hamburg and Jeff Tanksley and wife, Mandy, of Crossett; four sisters, Annette Wesson of Hamburg, Barbara Kelley and husband, Wayne of Alexander, Rita Walters and husband, John, of Hamburg and Joyce Collier and husband, Dewayne, of Crossett; six grandchildren, Landon Murphy, Earnest Murphy, Jessica Murphy, Jerrica Murphy, Hannah Benton, and Mitchell Benton; three great-grandchildren, Reagan Sellars, Jacob Sellars, and Reighlynn Cupples; his mother-in-law, JoeAnn Collier of Hamburg and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Monday, June 12, 2023, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Ellis and Bro. Ronnie Pack officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Andy Tanksley, Jeff Tanksley, Johnny Tanksley, Bill Collier, Brandon Collier, and Wayne Kelley.
