Beverly Carol Cokley, 77, of Dermott died Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Portland. Mrs. Cokley was born July 27, 1947, in Dermott, grew up in Jerome, was a resident of Dermott for the past 20 years and a 1965 graduate of Dermott High School. She worked as the Warden's Secretary for the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Delta Regional Unit, for over 25 years and the Cokley's Liquor Store for many years. Mrs. Cokley enjoyed reading, painting and going to dinner with her friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Boyd Cokley, Sr., and Juanita Hawkins Cokley; a brother, Ernest Boyd Cokley, Jr. and a nephew, James Ernest "Jim" Cokley, just three days ago.
She is survived by two nieces, Jennifer Hill and husband, Dea, of Portland and Lesli Mims of Buda, Texas; a great-niece, Lottie Mims of Buda, Texas; two great-nephews, Max Hill and wife, Danielle, and James Hill and wife, Ashley; three great-great-nephews, Wyatt Hill, Heath Hill and Jackson Hill; a great-great-niece, Harper Hill all of Portland and her constant companion, Diamond.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Portland United Methodist Church with Rev. Aaron Miller officiating. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, PO Box 2222, Little Rock, AR 72203.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Sunday at the church.
