Betty J. Gifford Gillingham, 92, of Hamburg, died Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her residence. Mrs. Gillingham was born April 9, 1932 in Fountain Hill and had lived in Miami, Florida for 51 years before moving back to Fountain Hill in 2001. Mrs. Gillingham was a 1950 graduate of Fountain Hill High School and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a Dental Hygenist for over 10 years and a licensed Optician for over 30 years. She enjoyed working in her yard and was very involved in the Alumni Association.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Frances Gillingham in 2000; her parents, James "Jim" and Willie Jordan Gifford; her step-mother, Virta Judkins Gifford; a sister, Rachel Gifford; three brothers, Wendell Gifford, Cecil Gifford and Clifton "Tip" Gifford; a step-brother, Jimmy Judkins and a nephew, James Gifford.
She is survived by four nephews, Eugene Gifford, Greg Gifford and wife, Carol, and Robert Gifford and wife, Susan, all of Fountain Hill and Cliff Gifford and wife, Susie, of Corning; three nieces, Marie Gifford, Rita Gifford Havelka and husband, Steve, and Julia Ann Gifford Alexander and husband, Si, all of Texas.
Memorial services are 10 a.m., Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Shiloh Baptist Church with Bro. Eugene Worrell and Bro. Elvin McDill officiating. Memorials may be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Alisa Scott, 774 Ashley Road 81, Hamburg, AR 71646.
