Betty Carolyn Hughes

Betty Carolyn Hughes, 79, of Crossett, died Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Ochsner LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mrs. Hughes was born August 25, 1945 in the Centerpoint Community in Drew County, a 1963 graduate of Drew Central High School and had been a resident of Crossett since 1967. She was a homemaker and had worked as a Tax Preparer for several years. Mrs. Hughes was a devoted Christian and a member of the South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting with people, growing and sharing the flowers from her garden, making her own cards and sending cards to those who were sick. Mrs. Hughes was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend and if you knew her, you loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Eddie Ray Hughes in 2022 and her parents, Doyle Cecil and Daisy Ray Phillips.

She is survived by her son, Matt Hughes; her daughter, Christie Hughes Rice and husband, Michael, all of Crossett; a brother, Doye Wayne Phillips and wife, Ruth, of Centerpoint; six grandchildren, McKinley Nix and husband, Rob, Hope Hughes, Camryn Hughes, Hannah Eyman and husband, Jordan, Nicholas Rice and Caroline Hawkes and husband, Ben; five great-grandchildren, Arthur Nix, Shepherd Nix, Hank Eyman, Aaron Eyman and Lilah Hawkes.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2025, at the South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Chris Sexton officiating.  Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.  Pallbearers are John Sturdivant, Greg Kelley, Greg Sivils, John Marter, Greg Oden and Jordan Eyman.  Memorials may be made to the South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church, 2201 S. Main Street, Crossett, AR 71635.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
