Barbara Lynn Wesson Obituary

Barbara Lynn Wesson, 86, of New Braunfels, Texas went to her eternal home in heaven on Sunday, February 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and the compassionate caregivers at Gruene Senior Living in New Braunfels. Mrs. Wesson was born on November 2, 1939, in Crossett to Jim and Hilda White. It was there that she met and married her husband and best friend, Rev. Sedric Wesson. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 61 years of faithful marriage. As a devoted pastor’s wife, Barbara faithfully served alongside Rev. Sedric in churches throughout Arkansas and Texas, ministering to countless families while raising their two sons. She attended East Texas Baptist University in Marshall. Mrs. Wesson later worked for the State of Arkansas in various administrative roles, where she was known as a trusted colleague, dependable worker, and dear friend.  She had a deep love for reading, nature, and people. After retiring and moving to New Braunfels in 2009, Barbara and Rev. Sedric became active members of First Baptist Church New Braunfels. She joyfully participated in the puppet ministry, senior adult choir, small groups, and AWOL, forming many cherished friendships. Mrs. Wesson loved fellowship and fun. She would often be found playing dominoes with friends at Gruene Senior Living, gathering with ladies at the New Braunfels Senior Center, or enjoying lively holiday games with her family. She treasured her close-knit community of neighbors and especially looked forward to the annual Christmas parties. One of her greatest simple pleasures was watching birds—whether sitting on the deck or enjoying a quiet morning indoors with a cup of coffee and a view of the bird feeder. She deeply loved her family, and it was in their presence that she found her greatest joy. Holidays, birthdays, shared lunches, and even the simplest moments spent visiting together were the times she treasured most. Above all she leaves behind a strong legacy of faith and a love of Jesus. She found comfort and strength in spending time reading her bible and praying often.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Sedric Wesson and her parents, Jim and Hilda White.

She is survived by her two sons, Jim Wesson (Susan) of New Braunfels, TX, and David Wesson (Shelley) of Crossett; her four grandchildren, Taylor Wesson, Hannah Chavez (Levi), Abbie Patterson (Boyd), and Bryce Wesson; two great-grandchildren, Robert Patterson and Reid Patterson; and her sister, Cheryl King (Ronnie).

Mrs. Wesson made many trips back to Arkansas throughout the years, always holding close the memories and connections she cherished there. In keeping with her love for home, she will be returning one final time to be laid to rest beside her beloved husband with a graveside service to honor her life and legacy.  Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2026 in the Eden Cemetery with David Wesson, Jim Wesson and Keith Wesson officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eden Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. Jerry Stanley, 747 HWY 8 West, Hamburg, AR 71646. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends until the joyful day we see her again.
