Barbara Foster, 88, of Hamburg, died Friday, November 18, 2022, at Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett. Mrs. Foster was a native and lifelong resident of Ashley County. She worked as a Supervisor for the Hamburg Shirt Factory for 32 years. Mrs. Foster was a devoted member of Gardner Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a faithful and generous worker. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and tending to her roses. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Jimmy Graves Stell in 1979 and Howard Foster in 2009; a son, Hank Stell in 2021; her father, Walter Chance, Sr.; her mother, Ora Icee Chamberlin Turner; two sisters, Marie Mae Grant and Ida Mae Caldwell; three brothers, Bill Chance, Walter Chance, Jr. and Jack Turner; two grandsons, James Miller, Jr. in 2009, Stephen Miller in 2012 and a granddaughter, Seleta Kay Foster in February of this year.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Miller and husband, James Miller, Sr., of Crossett; a son, Jimmy Stell and wife, Pam, of Hamburg; two step-sons, Johnny Foster and wife, Kathy, of Whitehall and Joe Foster of Hamburg; a sister, Susan Seibert of Northridge, California; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2022, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers are Benson Stell, William Stell, Boyd Stell, Jimmy Clay Stell, Wade Stell and Justin Stell. Memorials may be made to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. Keith Ladd, 186 Ashley Road 121, Hamburg, AR 71646, or to the Carlock Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. Mike Bays, 331 Ashley Road 462, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
