Obituary

Axie Rolline Nixon Withers, 82, of Fountain Hill, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. Mrs. Withers was a native of Warren, a resident of Fountain Hill for over 60 years, a former resident of Hermitage, and a 1959 graduate of Hermitage High School. She was a Beautician at her home for over 50 years and retired from the Drew Central School Cafeteria.  She loved the Lord, was a Godly woman who never missed an opportunity to witness to others and a fierce prayer warrior. Mrs. Withers was a member of the Eden Baptist Church where she sang and played the piano for many years.  She was also known to play at the Catfish Inn and Abes Ole Feed House. Her positive, funny and determined personality could light up any room and her husband described her as “a tough cookie and hard to beat.” Mrs. Withers was a wonderful cook and enjoyed canning.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, and she had the wonderful ability to make everyone she met feel special.  She had a contagious laugh and enjoyed visiting with people. Mrs. Withers loved big, was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her beloved husband of 61 years, Billy Glenn Withers, in May of this year; a granddaughter, Brittney Eads; her parents, Rev. Rolla Clyde and Mildred Axie Baker Nixon; a brother, Jerry Don Nixon, a brother-in-law, Freddie Martin and her best friend, Joan Manning.

She is survived by her son, Steve Withers and wife, Dana; her daughter, Glennis Jackson and husband, Doug, all of Crossett; her sister, Joy Ann Martin of Hamburg; four grandchildren, Brittani Harrington and husband, Jesse, Lance Withers and wife, Montana, Brooke Ferrell and husband, Jacob, and Brandon Eads and five great-grandchildren, Kruze, Korbyn, Savanna, Ada Wren, and Maverick; her sister-in-law, Mel Nixon of Sheridan; two nephews, Don Nixon and Nick Martin and wife, Nikki, and a niece, Kim Johns and husband, Mark.
