Audrey New, 71, of Hamburg, died Monday, December 28, 2020, in Little Rock. Mrs. New was a native of Wilmington, North Carolina, a resident of Hamburg since 1997 and a former resident of Crossett for many years. She dedicated her life to taking care of the elderly. Mrs. New opened her home, Audrey’s Special Home, to the elderly to spend their later years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events and all that they were involved in.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Mike New in 2010; her mother, Margaret Young Smith and her step-father, Chris Smith.
She is survived by three sons, Michael New and wife, Diana, of Crossett, Matthew New of Hamburg and Mackie New and wife, Angella, of Junction City; a daughter, Maria Rhodes and husband, James, of New Albany, Mississippi; two sisters, Trudy Impastato of Slidell, Louisiana and Margaret Jochum of Picayune, Mississippi; two brothers, Brian Deese of Liberty, South Carolina and Robert Deese of Slidell, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren, Michaila, Jamimey-Rae, Courtney, D’Anndrea, Jason, Zackary, Brandon, Emma, Charles, Daniel and Chasity; 5 great-grandchildren; her co-workers who were like her family, Trisha Tanksley, Rebekah Slack, Brandy Thomas, Natasha Smith, Victoria Victory, Jessica Williams, Jennie Aaron, Elizabeth Shelley and Hospice workers who were special to her, Hollie Smith, Kristyn Griffith and Tamara Russell.
A private graveside service and burial was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2020, in the Beekman Cemetery with Rev. Andy Connard officiating.
