Ambria Roger Williams, 79, of Crossett, died Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at his residence. Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident of Crossett and a 1964 graduate of Crossett High School. He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation Pulp Mill for 44 years as a Millwright and General Mechanic. Mr. Williams was a member of the South Main Baptist Church, a Mason, and a member of the Crossett Masonic Lodge #576. He was an avid bass fisherman and he enjoyed taking his sweetheart bream fishing, fishing with his grandson, Ben, and camping with family and friends. Mr. Williams was a Arkansas Razorback and Crossett Eagles fan. In his younger years, he coached his boys in baseball and then later, he took great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports. He looked forward to taking his sweetheart out to eat at a new place every weekend and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Williams loved his wife, his family and his church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Grady Ambria and Ella Morley Williams; a brother, John Williams and three sisters, Marie Goodrum, Jewel Dene Sylvest and Ina Menninger.
He is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 59 years, Charlotte Hyle Williams; two sons, Ricky Williams and wife, Sharon, and Chuck Williams and wife, Jennifer; his daughter, Jennifer Jordan and husband, Marty, all of Crossett; a brother, Leo Williams and wife, Pat, of Pinehill; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Williams of Harrison and Sarah Kasson of Lakewood, Colorado; his grandchildren, Nicole and wife, Tara, Sara and husband, Scott, Kayley and husband, Ron, Brittany and husband, Brady, Jayla, Drew and wife, Shanae, Ben and Skylar and wife, Rebecca; four great-grandchildren, Houston, Tucker, Nash and Dawson and wife, Taylor; three great-great-grandchildren, Seylor, Abel and Blakellie Rose and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the South Main Baptist Church with Bro. Brad Savage and Bro. Buddy Kinney officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are Drew Williams, Ben Jordan, Scott Moffatt, Ron Harris, Brian Martin, Mike Young, Albert Mills and Tommy Sturgeon. Honorary pallbearers are Houston Moffatt, Tucker Williams, Nash Williams, Allen Jackson, Byron Jackson and Burl Mills. Memorials may be made to the South Main Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 430, Crossett, AR 71635.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday at the church.
