Steven Jay Lucas, Jr.

Steven Jay Lucas, Jr., 52, of Portland, died Thursday, December 19, 2019 at his home.  Mr. Lucas was a native of Wabash, Indiana and a resident of Portland for most of his life.  He worked as a farm laborer.  Mr. Lucas loved animals and enjoyed working in his yard, watching westerns and playing Xbox.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lucas Carpenter Hill; his father, Steven Jay Lucas, Sr. and his grandmothers, Katie Lucas and Lillie Lucas.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Capille of Portland, a brother, Kirk Douglas Carpenter and wife, Holly of Portland; two sisters, Brenda Rutledge and husband, George, of Portland and Michelle Dowd and husband, David, of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Portland Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Harris and Stanton Veazey officiating.  Memorials may be made to the Chicot County Humane Society, PO Box 246, Lake Village, AR 71653. 

Visitation will be after the memorial service.
