Roy Coulter, 64, of Hamburg, died Thursday, August 2, 2018. Mr. Coulter was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1972 and worked for Ashley-Chicot Electric Cooperative for 25 years. Mr. Coulter was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, a former member of the Hamburg Search & Rescue Unit and the Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He retired from the Arkansas Army National Guard, having served during Desert Storm. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, A.B. & Marie Boykin Coulter and two brothers, Raymond and Larry D. Coulter.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Walthall Coulter of Hamburg; a son, Will Coulter and wife, Brooke, of Bastrop, Louisiana; two daughters, Christy Murphy and husband, Wes, of McGehee and Malisa Sivils and husband, Lance, of Hamburg; a brother, Jamie Coulter and wife, Michelle, of Hamburg; three sisters, Loyce Bonnette and husband, Dan, of Hot Springs, Linda Sears of Bastrop, Louisiana and Maletha Barnett and husband, David, of Greenbrier; six grandchildren, Landon, Wyatt, Easton, Jack, Joseph and Bryant and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jamie Coulter and Bro. Elvin McDill officiating. Burial will be with full military honors in the Cleveland Cemetery. Pallbearers are Johnny Kilcrease, Steve McDonald, Tim Smith, Marc Collins, Bill Wallace and Rob Gifford. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Gates, Johnny Walthall, Eugene Walthall, Frankie White, Gene Thompson, Ricky Hawkins, Bryan Hall, John Hodge, Hunter Thompson, Gary McDonald, Richard Gwin, George Vestal, Tony Vestal, Doyle Book and Kevin Spruell. Memorials may be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church, 716 Ashley Road 81 E., Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
