Rodney “Ricochet” Pennington, 64, of Fountain Hill, died Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Pennington was a native and life long resident of Fountain Hill, a 1971 graduate of Fountain Hill High School and a member of the Zion United Methodist Church. He was a brick mason, worked construction, was a hard worker and loved to build things. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed gardening and was a very loyal and devoted friend to many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Proctor and Thelma Wallis Pennington and two brothers, Tommy Pennington in 2012 and Justin “Red” Pennington in 2007.
He is survived by a daughter, Gina Sowyers and husband, Travis; a son, Wayne Pennington; a brother, Ronnie Pennington and wife, Karen; a sister, Diane Kinney and husband, David, all of Fountain Hill; the mother of his children, Virginia Pennington of Monticello; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Zion United Methodist Church with Bro. Jim Bailey and Jimmy Neal Faulk officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers are Wayne Pevey, Curtis Crum, Billy Morton, Dennis Cole, Mark Pennington, Jeff Pennington, Rusty Crum and Steven Bolin. Honorary pallbearers are James Rodney Sowyers, Joey Sowyers, William Sowyers, Jerry Stanley, Larry Stanley and the members of the Fountain Creek Hunting Club. Memorials may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund, 631 Highway 8 W, Hamburg, AR 71646 or to the Zion Cemetery Association, c/o Rita Pogue, 211 Ashley 467 Road, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Saturday at the church.
