Robby J. Carter

April 9, 1932 ~ August 27, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Robby J. Carter, 85, of Crossett, died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Cherry Ridge Skilled Nursing Facility in Bastrop, Louisiana.  Mr. Carter was a native of Hamburg and a resident of Crossett for the past 54 years.  He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1950 and was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation in the paper mill for 45 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crossett. He took pride in being a handyman and doing home repairs for the widow women in the community.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marian Lee Grimm Carter in 2007; a son, Keith Duane Carter in 2009; an infant daughter and his parents, Arthur and Allie Carpenter Carter.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis Carter and wife, Connie, of Crossett and David Carter of West Hartford, Connecticut; a brother, Rev. Jerry Carter and wife, Clara; a sister, Maxine Lovett and husband, Raymond, all of Hamburg; four grandchildren, Hunter Barnett and wife, Becky, of Aberdeen, South Dakota; Toni Moore and husband, Matt, of El Dorado, Bryson Carter and Paige Carter of West Hartford, Connecticut and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Barry Carter and Bro. Micah Carter officiating.  Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Bryson Carter, Kenneth Lovett, Johnny Bolin, Phillip Swan, Ryan Carter and Mike Ray.  Honorary pallbearers are Members of the Phillip Gilmore Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church.  Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 701 Main Street, Crossett, AR 71635 or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 10825 Financial Centre Parkway, Ste 330, Little Rock, AR 72211.  

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
