Richard Burt Courson, 60, of Overbrook, Kansas, formerly of Hamburg, died Friday, December 23, 2016, at Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas. He was a native of Crossett. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam Era. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and Washburn University’s School of Law in Topeka, Kansas, with a Juris Doctor degree. He worked for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad Company. He was a Baptist and a member of Grace Community Church in Overbrook, Kansas. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, B.A. and Chloe Courson and a brother, Jim Courson.
He is survived by a daughter, Leigh Ashley Courson; a grandson, Casper Layne Samaniego both of Monticello and a brother, Paul Courson and wife, Lynn, of Lake Village.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in the Promise Land Cemetery.
