Michael Bankston, of Crossett, passed away peacefully at the age of 59 surrounded by many family and friends on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Michael was born at home in Wilmot and a lifelong resident of Crossett. Michael was known for his hard work and generosity. He owned his own business, enjoyed work and sunshine and using his services to help people in need in the community. When he wasn’t working, he loved spending time with his family, drinking coffee on the porch, and caring for his saltwater aquarium. He took pride in his name and role as “Big Daddy” to his daughters and grandchildren. Michael attended church services at Grace Christian Fellowship.
Preceding Michael in death is his younger brother, Charlie Bankston.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Jan A. Bankston of Crossett; his daughters, Kimberly Bankston of Houston, Texas, Hannah Mondragon and husband, Octaviano, and Sara Pearcy and husband, Jonathan, all of Crossett; his parents, Charles and Jacqueline Sharkey Bankston; a brother, Vincent Bankston all of Crossett; his sisters, Vanessa Bankston of Crossett, Pam Taylor and husband, William, of Olathe, Kansas and Tina Bankston of Crossett; three grandchildren, Emma Grace Hannum, Eli Hannum and Tucker Mondragon; a God-daughter, Adrianna Jones and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, December 30, 2018, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Scott Wheeler and Bishop Robert Rudolph officiating. ;A private burial will be in the Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers are Timyeus Mohair, Hector Rodriguez, Octaviano Mondragon, Jonathan Pearcy, William Taylor III, Neal Green, and Randy Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Vincent Bankston, O’Bryan Bankston, Allen Canley, Anthony Wilson and Thurman Johnson.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
