Lida Kathleen “Kathy” Cason, 65, of Hamburg, died Sunday, December 15, 2019, at her home. Mrs. Cason was a native of Springfield, Missouri, a resident of Hamburg since 1972 and a former resident of Yellville. She worked for R.M. Courson, Inc. for over 30 years and for the Ashley County Sheriff Office for ten years under E.B. Sparks and Charles “Bull” Wells. Mrs. Cason was a member of the Hamburg First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Koinonia Sunday School Class, President of the United Methodist Women for 12 years, a member of the choir, cooked for the Wednesday night meals and took food to shut-ins. Everyone that knew Kathy, knew she always kept her yard in immaculate condition and kept Ashley Road 17 clean.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William Ray “Bill” Cason in 2016; her parents, Alton B. & Elizabeth “Betty” Simpson Chambers and a brother, John Alton Chambers, in 1954.
She is survived by her daughter, Christy Cason Burchfield and husband, Brad, of Hamburg; a sister, Carol Godfrey, and husband, Eric, of Springdale; two grandchildren, Cason Clark Meeks and Danica Noel Rowe both of Hamburg; a step-granddaughter, Jacee Burchfield of Strong; step-grandson, River Johnson and a great-granddaughter, Gemma Johnson both of Crossett.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, December 19, 2019, at the Hamburg First United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Comer and Rev. Toby Austin officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Wayne Courson, Tom McLemore, Johnny Stanley, Freddy Willis, Tony Meeks, and Seth Sadler. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Koinonia Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Stained Glass Fund, 202 S. Main Street, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
