John Oliver Holliday, Jr., 90, of Pineville, Louisiana, died, Wednesday, December 19, 2018. Mr. Holliday was a native of Parkdale, a resident of Parkdale until 1964, having moved to Pineville, Louisiana and lived there for 49 years. Mr. Holliday was a resident of Mandeville, Louisiana for the past five years. He worked for Texas Gas Transmission Company for 38 years. Mr. Holliday was a Mason, a former member of the Parkdale Baptist Church and a member of the Pineville Park Baptist Church. He volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity and was a former member of the Arkansas National Guard.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Louise Jones Holliday in 2013 and his parents, John and Allie Skinner Holliday.
He is survived by his children, John Benjamin Holliday and wife, Brenda, of Marshall, Texas, and Mary Alice Holliday Stratton of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Jordan Stratton Cruz, Natalie Stratton Aquino, John Benjamin Holliday, Jr., Carrie Sneed, and Katrina Holliday and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in the Parkdale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Khaled Rabbani, John Holliday, Jr., Robert Sneed, Daniel Aquino, Ryan Cruz, J.W. Jones, and Daniel Sneed. Honorary pallbearers are B.H. Perkins and Dock Lambert.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
