Hilton Goodwin, 91, of Bastrop, Louisiana, died Sunday, April 29, 2018. Mr. Goodwin was a native of Wilmot and a resident of Bastrop, Louisiana for the past 60 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Goodwin retired in 1988 after working at Texas Gas for 30 years. He was a member of the Mapelvale Missionary Baptist Church since 1964. Mr. Goodwin enjoyed working in his garden, fishing and hunting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Boyett and Kelmie Sawyer Goodwin; a daughter-in-law, Jamie Cooper Goodwin and a brother, Sawyer Goodwin.
He is survived by the love of his life of 60 years, Gloria Coody Goodwin of Bastrop, Louisiana; two sons, David Goodwin and wife, Donna, of Crossett and Dennis Goodwin of Bastrop, Louisiana; a sister, Virginia Goodwin Carter of Crossett; four grandchildren, Jennifer Montgomery and husband, Eric, of Hamburg, Kaitlynn Goodwin of Monticello, Sarah Brockwell and Matt Cantley and wife, Sarah, all of Crossett; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Maplevale Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Carter and Bro. Farrell Breshears officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jimmy Goodwin, Boyett Goodwin, Charlie Coody, Donnie Miller, Joey Miller and Doyle Coody, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are the Men of Maplevale Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
