Elizabeth Ann Morman Gatling, 77, of Monroe, Louisiana, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 after a long illness at the Specialty Hospital in Monroe. Mrs. Gatling was a native of Hamburg. She later moved to Lake Village to live on the lake for several years, and later moved to Monroe, Louisiana to be near her daughter. She worked for the Department of Human Services for 32 years and retired as the Director. She enjoyed her work for many years and making a difference in the lives of others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ollie Allison Morman and two sisters, Lurline Cecola and Louise Morris.
She is survived by a daughter, Myra Gatling Akers and husband, Brad, of Monroe, Louisiana; four sisters, Elese White of Hamburg, Ruby Phillips Morgan of Bastrop, Louisiana, Aline Kitchens and husband, Clint, of Bastrop, Louisiana and Vickie Thurman and husband, Danny Ray, of Petal, Mississippi and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in the Chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Cleveland Cemetery. Pallbearers are Roy Anderson, Brad Akers, Mitchell White, Raymond Karnes, Danny Ray Thurman and Reed Griffin.
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
