Donald E. “Dr. Don” Hicks, 82, of Hamburg, died Monday, October 21, 2019, in Crossett. He was a native of Kennett, Missouri and a resident of Hamburg since 1962. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired Brick Mason and was a member of Judson Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Hicks loved fishing and hunting, spending time at the lake and in the woods, and watching the birds and deer in his yard. He enjoyed spending time with his son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anita B. Harrington Hicks in 2017; his parents, W.T. and Gladys Bennett Hicks; three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by a son, William “Michael” Hicks and wife, Jessie of Hermitage; four grandchildren, Kerstie Hicks, Victoria Hicks and fiance, Scott Harper, Sawyer Hicks and Zack Piper; five great-grandchildren, Anita, Kaydence, Collin, Carson and Daniel and a host of nieces and nephews
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2019, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Hill officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers are Hardy Sawyer, Bruce Towe, Brian Kelley, Sawyer Hicks, Scott Harper and Jimmy Don Norrell. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905. Visitation will be Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
