Darlene Lawson

June 6, 1946 ~ May 10, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Darlene Lawson, 70, of Parkdale, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Monticello.  Mrs. Lawson was a native of Camden; a resident of Parkdale for the past year and a former resident of Hamburg, Montrose and Camden.  She was a homemaker and she volunteered at the Portland School and Portland Library.  She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was the Youth Group Leader for many years.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and cook.

She is preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb Michael Spaulding; her father, Dallas Griffin; her mother and step-father, Odell and Bob Justice; her former husband, Robert H. Spaulding and a step-son, J.T. Lawson.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Lavan Lawson of Parkdale; two sons, Roby Spaulding and wife, Patricia and Jamy Spaulding and wife, Lorenda, all of Portland; a step-son, William Bo Lawson of Fayetteville; four step-daughters, Tracy Lawson of Hamburg; Sandy Brozewski, Corene Schmidt and Cindy Richter all of Racine, Wisconsin; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 3 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Southside Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Harris officiating.  Burial will be in the Portland Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Taylor Spaulding, Jadon Spaulding, William Bo Lawson, Jerod Lawson, Greg Croswell and Matt Lawson.  Honorary pallbearers are Robert Kelley, Joseph Peacock, Dewell Williamson, Franklin Ricks and Phillip Tanksley.  

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home chapel.
