Carolyn Joyce Ogles Carpenter, 70, of Fountain Hill, died Thursday, October 10, 2019, at her residence. Ms. Carpenter was a native of Portland, a former resident of Snyder for many years, and a resident of Fountain Hill for the past 21 years. She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology at Crossett with an AIP associates degree. Ms. Carpenter worked at the Super 10 Store and the Hamburg Shirt Factory for many years. Family was important to her and she loved spending time with her children, grandson and her puppies and cats.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Lynn Jones in 2011; a granddaughter, Nikki Carpenter in 2009; her parents, Otis and Hazel Adams Ogles; her former husband and father of her children, John W. “Johnny” Carpenter Sr. in 2017 and a brother, Raymond Ogles in 2004.
She is survived by her children, John William Carpenter, Jr. and fiance, Cindy Lewis; and Marilyn Hall and husband, David, all of Fountain Hill; her sister, Betty Young, of Pine Bluff; one grandson, J.J. Jones; her puppies Tippy and Sadie; her other fur babies and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2019 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Elton officiating. Burial will be in Bell Cemetery. Pallbearers are John Richtor, Sam Grimmett, Tony Ogles, Mike Ogles, Thomas Huff and Logan Fisher. Honorary pallbearer is Kenny Hartley. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2222 Cottondale Lane, Ste 310, Little Rock, AR 72202.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
