Anita B. Hicks, 76, of Hamburg, died Friday, May 12, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Hicks was a native of Camden and a resident of Hamburg since 1962. She was a homemaker and worked at the Hamburg Shirt Factory for 27 years and also at Jade Grocery for five years. She was a member of the Judson Missionary Baptist Church. She was an avid fisherman and she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the cornerstone of the Hicks family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Loren & Jimmie Vaughan Harrington; two brothers, Alford & Alfous Harrington; three sisters, Darlene Sims, Loretta Bryant and Joyce Dyer.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald Hicks of Hamburg; a son, William “Michael” Hicks and wife, Jessie, of Hermitage; two sisters, Estelle Harrington of Shreveport, Louisiana and Vickie Phillips of Farmington, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Kerstie, Victoria, Sawyer and Zack; five great-grandchildren, Anita, Kaydence, Collin, Karson and Daniel and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
