A.B. Nelms, 79, of Snyder, died Friday, August 10, 2018. Mr. Nelms was a native and lifelong resident of the Snyder Community east of Hamburg. He worked as a logger and was the owner of Nelms Brothers Logging Company. Mr. Nelms was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Berlin Crisis. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Snyder where he served as a Deacon. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved taking his grandchildren hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by a son, Billy Dewayne Nelms in 2015; his parents, John and Emma Streeter Nelms and two brothers, Cecil and Leo Nelms.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Kelley Nelms of Snyder; a daughter, Patricia Lambert and husband, Cory, of Jonesboro; four sons, David Nelms, Ronnie Nelms and wife, Bernice, Roger Nelms and wife, Lesle, and James Nelms all of Snyder; three sisters, Betty Sue King of Vaiden, Mississippi, Marcelle Buckner and Kathy Tanksley both of Hamburg; three brothers, Jackie Nelms of Snyder, Frankie Nelms of Crossett and Curtis Nelms of Lake Village; eight grandchildren, Melissa Culpepper, Andrea Nelms, Aaron Nelms, Addison Nelms, Jackson Nelms, Preston Lambert, Blake Lambert and Mabel Kate Lambert, and one great-grandchild, Wyatt Culpepper.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2018, at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Greenwood officiating. Burial will be in the Greene Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mart Nelms, Kevin Barfield, John Paul Kelley, Ryan Culpepper, Brandon Patrick and Bryan Nelms. Memorials may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 179 Ashley Road 107, Montrose, AR 71658.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
