Willie M. Carpenter

Willie M. Carpenter, 72, of Hamburg, died Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital Encore Medical Center in Bryant. Mr. Carpenter was a native of Drew County and a resident of Hamburg for most of his life. He graduated in 1969 from Hamburg High School, where he played football and held records in Weight Lifting, Track, and Shot Put. Mr. Carpenter worked as an Iron hand in the Steel Building industry and with Smith Steel in Dumas, retiring after 20 years. His passion was deer hunting and taking his grandson, Phillip, to the 4 C’s Hunting Club that he started with his brothers, Charles, Hack, and Pete. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a step-son, Keith Allen; his parents, Willie W. and Lena Maxie Bozeman Carpenter; two brothers, James “Pete” Carpenter and Charles Carpenter and three half brothers, Waymond Carpenter, Jimmy Carpenter, and Doyle Carpenter.

He is survived by two sons, Jason Carpenter and wife, Alisha, of West Monroe, Louisiana and Steven Carpenter and wife, Marcella, of Riverside, California; a daughter, Melissa Westmoreland and husband, Adam, of Arkansas City; a brother, Haskell “Hack” Carpenter and wife, Rita, of Crossett; seven grandchildren, Niko Carpenter, Travis Carpenter, Chelsea Carpenter, Phillip Carpenter, Zackary Carpenter, Jacob Westmoreland and Keith Westmoreland and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say “Thank You” to Len Lansdale for helping him while he lived alone for several years and to his daughter-in-law, Alisha, for caring for him the last few years.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Whiteley officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jason Carpenter, Steven Carpenter, Niko Carpenter, Phillip Carpenter, Thomas Carpenter and Richard Carpenter. 

Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
