Susan Kay Swan, 68, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at her son’s residence in Longview, Texas. Mrs. Swan was a native of Ashley County and a resident of the Pine Hill Community outside of Crossett for many years. She worked as a draftsman and lived overseas in China while training her colleagues to use drafting software. After she moved back from overseas, she lived in Longview, Texas for several years until she moved back to her home place in the Pine Hill Community. Mrs. Swan was the Secretary at the First United Methodist Church of Crossett, where she was also a member, and drove a school bus for the Hamburg School District. She had a passion for music and was a drummer and a bass player.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Shirley D. and Iva Kate Norrell Swan; a brother, Charles “Buster” Swan and a sister, Cathy Swan.
She is survived by her son, Jason Lovett; her goddaughter, Sunshine Marisa West, both of Longview, Texas and her sister-in-law, Kathryn Box and husband, Kenneth, of Hamburg.
Funeral services are 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church of Crossett, with Rev. Matthew Daniels and Rev. Bryan Diffee officiating. Burial will be in the Carlock Cemetery. Pallbearers are Shane Carpenter, Ryan Carpenter, Gary Johnson, Mike Johnson and Eric Sansing. Memorials may be made to the Carlock Cemetery, c/o Mike Bays, 131 Ashley Road 462, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Saturday, at the church.
