Reba Lawrence White, 93, of Portland, died Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Audrey’s Special Home in Hamburg. Mrs. White was a native of Beekman, Louisiana and grew up in the Dry Bayou Community just east of Wilmot, and was a former resident of Montrose. She was a resident of Portland since 1949, a 1949 graduate of Portland High School, and a member of the Portland Baptist Church. Mrs. White worked for the Portland Gin Company as a Secretary for over 31 years, having retired in 1995. She enjoyed traveling, doing needlepoint, and she took great pride in mowing her own yard until she was unable to do so. She loved her family dearly and cherished every moment she spent with them.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jacob White in 2008; her parents, Bryan E. & Effie Edwards Lawrence; a sister, Dorothy Eckholdt and two brothers, her twin, Doyle Lawrence and Thurman Lawrence.
She is survived by her son, Joey F. White of Portland; a daughter, Jackie Womack and husband, Ricky, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Christopher Davidson, Jacob Davidson, Dustin White, Cassidy White, Danette White, David Womack, and Grady Womack; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Portland Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers are Christopher Davidson, Jacob Davidson, Chris Selby, Eddie Scherm, Michael Sadler, and Gary Morgan.
