Joyce Nell Pope Lawson

Joyce Nell Pope Lawson, 88, of Parkdale, died Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Nightingale at Stonegate Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett. Mrs. Lawson was a lifelong resident of Parkdale and had attended Parkdale Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family.  She always had a cup of coffee in hand everytime her family came to visit.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Junior Faye Lawson in 2000; four daughters, Deborah Hughes, Shirley Allen, Tammy Miller, and Patricia Lawson; four sons, Danny Ray Lawson, Austin Lawson, Roy Lawson, and Bobby Lawson; her parents, Wiley and Laura Ledia Roark Pope; four sisters, Hazel Pope Etue, Evelyn Pope Langston, Geneva Pope Vail and Frances Corrine Doss Knight and four brothers, Alvin Jackson Doss, Wiley Pope, Jr., Floyd Edward Pope and Lonnie Carrol Pope, Sr.

She is survived by a son, Jimmy Don Lawson of Monticello; a daughter, Joyce Ann Pope of Logansport, Indiana; two sisters, Jackie Lois Walters of Indiana and Leola Pope Anderson of Princeton, Kentucky; 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kyle Harper officiating. Burial will be in the Kilbourne Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Jason Freeman, Brandon Lawson, A.J. Lawson, Jonathan Lawson, Steven Allen, and Justin Allen.  Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Allen, Austin Street, Christian Allen, Dylan Wright and Triston Adams.  

Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
